Our Mission:
The S.H.A.I.D. Tree Shelter Society provides temporary care and shelter to helpless animals in distress, be they abandoned, homeless or relinquished and we place as many as possible into responsible and caring homes.
About Us:
S.H.A.I.D., standing for Sheltering Helpless Animals In Distress, is a small, privately run shelter located near Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Over the years, S.H.A.I.D. has evolved into a low kill shelter where animals do not have time limits and are only euthanized for serious medical conditions or severe aggression issues, making them unadoptable.
Directions:
The shelter is located at 950 Mulloch Road just outside Bridgewater.
From Halifax: Take the 103 to Exit 11 and turn towards Blockhouse. At the four way stop, turn right and continue along this road (Hwy. 325) to Whynott's Settlement. You will see a blue sign indicating the regional recycling centre and a smaller sign at the corner pointing left up the hill to S.H.A.I.D. Turn left onto Mulloch Rd. and the shelter is at the top of the hill on your left.
From Bridgewater: Take Hwy. 325 towards Mahone Bay. Just after the Oakhill Fire Dep't. you will start climbing a twisty hill. Mulloch Rd. is just after you reach the top of the hill. You will see a blue sign indicating the regional recycling centre and a smaller sign at the corner pointing right up the hill to S.H.A.I.D. Turn right onto Mulloch Rd. and the shelter is at the top of the hill on your left.
Shelter Hours: The shelter is open to the public Tuesday to Friday from NOON to 3 PM. Saturdays, from 11 AM to 4 PM. Closed Sunday and Monday.
